Babs, One of my goals last night, other than to walk 2 miles for "Light The Night," was to meet this amazing young man I read about in a Montgomery Advertiser article this month. As soon as John, Ozzy, and I arrived we did just that. It was a pleasure to meet you, Eli, and your family! After the walk got under way I found myself priviledged to be chatting with Eli. We talked most of the way and he is very easy to talk to! It's obvious your son knows how fortunate he is to have survived a bone marrow transplant and the horrible disease of leukemia. He appreciates the fragility of life after all that he has been through. Like Eli, Steven was a computer science major and he was diagnosed in August of 2001. I felt his spirit accompany us last night and am so grateful to have participated in this remarkable event. We hope to bring a team from Troy to walk with us next year. I want to do all that I can to help keep others from going through what we went through. Bless you and your family as well.
