Hi ann, my name is mandi woodard and i just lost the love of my life to AML. I would like to share our story with you....i'm going to give you a brief and if you would like to hear more you can email me at mandiw221@yahoo.com and i will write you the rest back. Charles (my boyfriend) got diagnosed with AML in may 2005 he had a chemo treatment and after the first one he went into remission awesome right...we all thought so, well, the doctors thought it would be a good idea to have 4 days of radiation another round of chemo and a BMT just to be on the "safe side" well, his sister turned out to be a PERFECT match and so we were excited.....well, after the transplant he just stayed sick to his stomach and they could never tell us why he felt that way, he was 18 years old and we were going to be together forever, we wanted children so, you know....he saved his sperm for me.....he didn't even want kids like i did....anyways....well get to that later....Charles had an Aneurism probably 3 or 4 days before he died....he kept complaining about a horrible headache and he was NOT a complainer he had a very high tolerence of pain....so, the pressure built up apparently over night and he had a stroke and went into a coma....he died the same day they had to take him off life support......that happened November 3, 2005......26 days before his birthday.....we found things in his room leading to the conclusion that he was going to ask me to marry him christmas well, i just wanted to say that i feel your pain and i want to help out in Luekemia research and i don't really know how too so maybe you can help, if you want to know more please email me so we can share more about each others loved ones.....thanks for listening to my story......Mandi
